Jamshedpur, May 30: A stray dog attacked and bit 14 villagers of Bankati and Phulpal villages in Ghatshila Block late on Sunday night. According to reports, thse dog-bite victims were sleeping outside their houses. They were taken to the Subdivisional Hospital in Ghatshila where eight were discharged after being provided first aid while six others who had suffered severe bites were referred to MGMC Hospital in Jamshedpur for better treatment.
According to the local villagers, the dog attacked people sleeping outside their houses or in their courtyards after dinner on Sunday at around 11 pm. The dog appeared suddenly and started biting the people. Among the dog-bite victims who were taken to the Subdivisional Hopsital Saleha Khatoon, Raju Tudu, Sheikh Ehsaan, Aamna Khatoon and two others were referred to the MGMC Hospital in view of the seriouis nature of their injuries. The others including Kuruna Biwi, Najma Khatoon, Ramani Tudu, Sukhdev Tudu, Raju Kalindi, Sudhir Hembram and others were released after first. According to reports, the stray dog had bitten Saleha Khatoon and tore into the skin, flesh and nerves of her hand. Another seriously injured, Raju Tudu’s shoulders and legs had been bitten by the canine and doctors had to put stitches on the injuries. Presently, the villagers of Bankati and Phulpal are living in terror of the stray dog.
