Jamshedpur: Speeding trailer run over 3 pavement-dwellers near Tatanagar Railway Station

Jamshedpur: The city on Thursday witnessed two road mishaps in which five persons were killed while about five others were injured.

In the wee hours, three pavement dwellers were killed and four others injured as a speeding trailer runover them near Tatanagar railway station on Jugsalai-Parsudih road under Bagbera police station area.

Those killed on the spot were identified as Narayan Sobar (35) and Raju Sobar (10), both father and son respectively.


The injured were identified as Sonu Devi (30), Narayan’s wife, daughters Manisha (14) and Durgi (8) and son Onkara Sobar (6).

The injured were rushed to the MGM Medical College Hospital where condition of all the four are said to be serious. According to information, the mishap took place as the trailer’s brake failed.

Trailer driver, Rahul Kumar Yadav (25) was taken into police custody. Rahul is a resident of Azamagarh district in Uttar Pradesh.

The accused driver said that he was driving upto Hata near Jamshedpur from Bokaro carrying a container .

OC, Bagbera police station Laxman Paswan confirmed about the road mishap near Tatanagar railway station today.


“As per our investigation a trailer driver rammed into a portion on the footpath where homeless people were in sleep,” said Paswan while talking to this correspondent.
