Jamshedpur, Jan 25: Security arrangements have been geared up across Kolhan in view of the Republic Day on January 26 , an attempt to ensure that the national festival passes off on a peaceful note. The focus this year is on Covid curbs.
The police and administrative machinery are gearing up to security arrangements after putting the police stations in all these three districts under Kolhan on high alert.
Significantly, the district police authority are taking extra attention while deployment of forces in the strategic location keeping the naxal-sponsored violence at rural areas.
When East Singhbhum district police maintains that it has beefed up the security arrangement at the areas that fall in its jurisdiction, the authority of West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts
claimed that they are deploying forces at strategic locations in the township and also the rural areas.
Superintendent of police, Seraikela-Kharsawan, Abhishek Anand said that the security arrangement was being made keeping the history of this rebel-infested district in view.
“This time extra vigilance will be maintained in the naxal-infested areas like Chowka, Chandil, Kuchai and Kharsawan. We have made necessary security arrangements to tackle the Maoists threat perception observed during the last Republic Day celebration here,” said the SP, Seraikela-Kharsawan.
“We will keep close eye on those areas where the Republic Day could not be celebrated last year and would try to instill confidence among the local residents for going ahead with the National Festival without fear of anyone,” said Anand.
Similarly, at naxal-infested areas in West Singhbhum district, the police will undertake special operations so that the rebels may not come over ground during the Republic Day celebration anywhere.
An official pointed out that the separate teams of police and paramilitary forces will remain mobile and ready to respond to any emergency. “The moment we get information about a naxal act in any of the spots, the special operation will be launched immediately,” said Singh.
The preparedness for a peaceful Republic Day celebration is on at the East Singhbhum district also. Senior superintendent of police, M Tamil Vanan said that police and paramilitary forces are being deployed at a number of locations in Ghatshila sub-division so that the people living in the rebel-infested areas can celebrate the national festival fearlessly.
Notably, Republic Day celebration is primarily organised at the district collectorates, block offices and also in various educational institutions.
