Jamshedpur Soaked in Colours and Cheer as Holi Festivities Light Up the City

Jamshedpur: The festival of colours , Holi, was celebrated with great enthusiasm across the city on Friday, as thousands of residents came together to mark the occasion.

The city was drenched in hues of joy as people took to the streets, smearing colours  on each other, singing, and dancing to traditional and Bollywood tunes. The festivities remained largely peaceful, thanks to the elaborate security arrangements made by the district administration and police department.

To ensure smooth celebrations, the East Singhbhum district administration had deployed a heavy police force across key areas of the city.

More than 2,000 security personnel, including Rapid Action Force (RAF) teams and Quick Response Teams (QRT), were stationed at various locations to prevent any untoward incidents. Checkpoints were set up at strategic locations, and police conducted extensive patrolling in sensitive areas, including Mango, Sakchi, Bistupur, and Jugsalai.

“Our primary focus was to ensure that people could enjoy the festival safely. We had deployed additional forces and monitored the situation through CCTV cameras installed in major areas,” said SSP Kishore Kaushal. The administration had also issued strict warnings against reckless driving, and a special drive was conducted to check drink-driving cases. Over 50 people were detained for violating traffic and safety norms.

Residential colonies, parks, and clubhouses in posh areas like Circuit House, Sonari, and Bistupur hosted private Holi parties, where families and friends gathered to enjoy the festival. Several societies organized music events, rain dances, and community feasts, adding to the festive fervor. Traditional delicacies such as gujiyas, malpuas, and thandai were widely enjoyed by revelers.

The celebrations were equally vibrant in local markets and commercial hubs. The Golmuri and Sakchi markets witnessed a surge in shoppers purchasing colours , water guns, and festive sweets. Street vendors did brisk business, selling Holi essentials like herbal gulal and pichkaris.

Meanwhile, local clubs and social organizations arranged special Holi Milan Samarohs, where people from different communities came together to spread messages of love and unity. One such event was organized at the Beldih Club, where senior executives, employees, and their families participated in the celebrations.

Despite the revelry, the administration had appealed to citizens to maintain decorum and celebrate responsibly.

Local NGOs and volunteer groups worked to spread awareness about playing a safe and eco-friendly Holi, discouraging the use of synthetic colours  that can harm the skin and environment.
