Jamshedpur sizzles at 44°C, Red Alert issued

Jamshedpur, June 12: Jharkhand is currently experiencing severe heatwave conditions, causing distress among residents. On Wednesday, several districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, East Singhbhum, and West Singhbhum, witnessed scorching temperatures. Daltonganj recorded a staggering 45.6 degrees Celsius, while Jamshedpur reached 44.0 degrees Celsius, surpassing the normal by 6.9 degrees. The minimum temperature in Jamshedpur was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperatures for various districts on Wednesday were as follows: Ranchi – 40.2, Jamshedpur – 44.0, West Singhbhum – 42.2, Saraikela – 44.1, Daltonganj – 45.6, Bokaro – 43.7, Chatra-42.1, Deoghar-41.8, Dhanbad-41.1, Garhwa-45.3, Giridih-41.6, Godda-42.1, Gumla-42.1, Hazaribagh-41.6, Jamtara-39.4, Khunti-41.1, Latehar-42.2, Lohardaga-41, Pakur-38.2 Palamu-45.3, Ramgarh-43.7, Sahebganj-38.4 and Simdega-39.7 C.

The weather department has issued a red alert for Thursday, indicating severe heatwave conditions in Garhwa, Palamu, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela Kharsawan. Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for Chatra and Latehar districts, with a yellow alert for several other districts including Godda, Dumka, and Ranchi. (w/gsd)
