Jamshedpur: SIT to probe Rs 32 lakh loot at Bistupur

SSP seeks report on CCTV installation in banks

Jamshedpur, Feb 15: Senior superintendent of police (SSP) M Tamil Vanan formed a special investigation team (SIT) to expedite probe in yesterday’s Rs 32 lakh loot incident at Bistupur.

The SIT comprises DSP CCR Animesh Kumar Gupta, Bistupur OC Vishnu Kumar Raut, sub inspector Vikas Kumar Jaisawal, sub inspector Amit Kumar, sub inspector Vivek Kumar Mathuri, Ravi Kant Mishra and Vikrant Shankar Jha.

Sources said the SSP has directed the SIT to collect all evidence related to the loot to ensure speedy detection of crime. He has asked the officers in-charge of all police stations to inspect CCTVs in all banks and furnish a detailed report on their numbers, angles of installment and DVR backup within 24 hours.

Armed criminals looted cash near Gajran Mansion, Bistupur, from two staff of Chhaganlal Dayaljee Sons in broad daylight. The jewelry showroom staff were going to deposit the cash at Canara Bank when the incident occurred. During investigation, police found that the CCTV cameras of the bank were not working at the time of loot. This has made senior police officials about the safety of various banks across the district.
