E-voting facility available
Jamshedpur, Sep 4: The biennial elections of Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) the oldest and largest trade body of Kolhan will take place on September 28.
The trade outfit on Saturday notified that the 69th annual general meeting will take place a day prior to the polls. The polls will see candidates vying for the post of president, general secretary, vice-president (4), secretary (4), a treasurer and 30 executive committee members.
The election will be conducted by a five-member team. The election committee comprises RK Jhunjhunwala (CA), PS Sen (Advocate), Satyanarayan Khandelwal (Advocate), Deepak Dokania (Entrepreneur) and Jagdish Khandelwal (CA).
SCCI President Ashok Bhalotia informed that the executive committee of the chamber had agreed on the names of all the above five. After which the proposal was sent to him for approval on which everyone gave their consent.
AGM on September 27, elections on 28th
The elections process for Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce will begin on September 13. The nomination papers will be distributed from September 13 to 17. Nominations can be filed from the next day on September 18. On September 22, the five returning officers will scrutinize the nomination papers. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations has been fixed by 7 pm on 23 September. The final list of candidates will be released on the same day after 9 pm.
Ashok Bhalotia said that like previous year, there will be facility of remote voting and e-voting on 25th and 26th September. However, instead of physical presence, members will be able to attend the AGM virtually. AGM will be held a day before the elections on September 27. Therefore, this time on September 27, the AGM will be held in a virtual way, in which members will be able to give their views, suggestions and amendment proposals. The next day, 28 September, e-voting will be conducted in the Chamber building.
Five election officers include-RK Jhunjhunwala (CA), PS Sen (Advocate), Satyanarayan Khandelwal (Advocate), Deepak Dokania (Entrepreneur) and Jagdish Khandelwal (CA).
The oldest traders body of the state (second in undivided Bihar) SCCI which was constituted in 1950 has close to 1100 members and is the largest body looking after businessmen interest in Kolhan region comprising East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan districts.
