Jamshedpur, March 16: Panic gripped the busy Bistupur market area on Monday after a sudden fire broke out at a bicycle shop in the Bistupur police station area.
The blaze erupted at Bharat Cycle Company, reportedly due to a short circuit.
According to initial information, the fire quickly spread inside the shop, filling the premises with thick smoke and flames, triggering chaos among shopkeepers and shoppers in the crowded marketplace.
On receiving the alert, the Tata Steel Fire Brigade rushed to the spot. Three fire tenders were deployed, and firefighters battled the flames for some time before successfully bringing the situation under control.
The incident created a brief atmosphere of panic in the market area, but prompt action by the fire brigade helped avert a major disaster.
While no injuries have been reported, goods stored inside the shop are believed to have suffered damage in the fire. Authorities were currently assessing the extent of the losses and investigating the exact cause of the fire.
