Jamshedpur: A grand event celebrating Urdu Day was held at Darain Academy to honor the richness of Urdu language and literature. As a highlight of the program, distinguished Urdu journalist Shakir Azimabadi was conferred with the prestigious ‘Dr. Iqbal Award’ and the title of ‘Fakhre Sahafat’ in recognition of his unparalleled contributions to Urdu journalism.
The program commenced with Tilawat-e-Quran and was conducted by Maulana Mufti Badar Alam Nizami. Addressing the gathering, Mukhtar Khan, Brand Ambassador of Mango Municipal Corporation, lauded the ongoing efforts to promote education and the preservation of Urdu. Mufti Abdul Malik Misbahi emphasized Urdu’s integral role in culture and history, calling for its preservation as a shared heritage.
In his acceptance speech, Shakir Azimabadi expressed heartfelt gratitude, reflecting on the pivotal role Urdu journalism has played in shaping societal narratives. He encouraged the younger generation to embrace the language and its literary legacy.
Prominent personalities, including Syed Manzar Amin, Dr. Afroz Shakeel, Dr. Mohammad Tahir Hussain, and Dr. Mohammad Mahfooz Alam, attended the event, alongside social worker Mukhtar Khan, who shared their thoughts on Urdu’s timeless relevance.
The program concluded with a special prayer led by Mufti Abdul Malik Misbahi, underscoring the unity and cultural significance of Urdu. The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of the language and its champions like Shakir Azimabadi.
