Jamshedpur set for floral fiesta as 35th Flower Show begins Dec 28

Topiary-Themed Floral Festival to Welcome New Year in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The steel city is all set to be filled once again with the fragrance of flowers and vibrant floral designs as the 35th Annual Flower Show, organised by the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur, will be held from December 28, 2025, to January 1, 2026, at Gopal Maidan. The much-anticipated annual exhibition promises to showcase Jamshedpur’s rich horticultural heritage, creativity, and growing awareness towards nature and the environment.

The theme of this year’s flower show is “Topiary” under the tagline “Phaili hai phoolon ki kalakruti, yehi hai Jamshedpur ki Sanskriti” reflecting the city’s deep-rooted association with flowers and aesthetics.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on December 28 at 2 pm. On the opening day, the show will remain open to visitors till 9 pm, while from December 29 to January 1, it will be open daily from 9 am to 9 pm, said Sumita Nupur, president, Horticultural Society Jamshedpur.

Addressing a press meet at CFE on Monday, Nupur informed that DB Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel will inaugurate the show in presence of Abhijit A. Nanoti, Managing Director of JCAPCPL. At the closing ceremony Chaitanya Bhanu, VP – Operations, Tata Steel, Jamshedpur will be the chief guest.

General Secretary Dr. Anuradha Mahapatra said that the Flower Show will feature competitions in 10 major categories with 208 subcategories, covering a wide range of exhibits including flowers, vegetables, fruits, medicinal plants, ornamental plants, and innovative floral designs. Both amateur gardeners and institutional participants will take part in the competitions, adding diversity and creativity to the event.

Renowned horticulture experts from cities such as Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Ranchi, Pune, and Kalimpong will be present, making the exhibition more enriching for visitors. A total of 41 nursery stalls will be set up, offering a variety of plants and gardening materials. In addition, around 15 food stalls will cater to visitors, adding to the festive atmosphere.

The entry fee for the event is Rs. 10, and adequate safety measures will be in place, informed Dr. Anuradha.

Mahapatra further said that the show will also host a series of engaging activities. In view of the President’s proposed programme, the children’s ‘Sit and Draw’ competition has been rescheduled to December 30 from 9 AM to 1 PM, instead of December 29. Cultural programmes will be held on the evenings of December 29 and 30, offering a platform to showcase the talents of city children, under the coordination of  Sukanya Das.

For gardening enthusiasts, technical workshops will be organized on December 29 and 30, featuring expert sessions on topiary art, hydroponic gardening, balcony gardening, and low-cost gardening techniques.

Last year, the event recorded a footfall of 75,000 visitors, and organizers expect this number to rise to 80,000 this year.

The organisers expressed confidence that the 35th Annual Flower Show will be a memorable experience for city residents and tourists alike. The Horticultural Society Jamshedpur has appealed to citizens and nature lovers to participate in large numbers and welcome the New Year amid the beauty and serenity of flowers.
