Marandi seeks security for BJP candidate in Singhbhum

Ranchi, April 14:A scuffle broke out on Sunday (April 14) between workers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and villagers during campaigning in Mohanpur of Gamharia in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

Some people present in the crowd are seen armed with weapons.

BJP candidate for Singhbhum seat Geeta Koda had reached Mohanpur of Rapcha Panchayat on Sunday to visit Gamharia block. Meanwhile, there was a clash between BJP workers and villages.

BJP leaders alleged that they were JMM workers. However, the villagers alleged that they had voted Geeta Koda to victory, but she did not visit the area even once in 5 years. On the contrary, he insulted the voters by joining BJP.

After receiving the news, the police team and administrative officials reached the village and pacified the agitating villagers and rescued MP Geeta Koda from the crowd.

Voting for Singhbhum (ST) Lok Sabha seat is scheduled on May 13. Gamhariya comes under this Lok Sabha seat. Seraikela-Kharsawan district is the home district of Chief Minister Champai Soren.

Geeta Koda won the Lok Sabha elections in 2019 on Congress ticket. Recently Geeta joined BJP. The party has made him its candidate from Singhbhum Lok Sabha seat.

State BJP President Babulal Marandi has demanded the Jharkhand DGP to provide security. He has demanded immediate strict action against those who attacked Geeta Koda.

Babulal Marandi also said that the district administration in the Chief Minister’s home district did not provide security to the outgoing MP, which is unfortunate. Babulal Marandi said that JMM supporters, in despair after seeing certain defeat in the general elections, tried to harm Geeta Koda and her supporters.

Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Amar Bauri also called the incident unfortunate. He also expressed fear of untoward incident. Amar Bauri demanded the Chief Minister to take cognizance of the matter and take action against the culprits.
