Jamshedpur, Jan 8: Considering the severe cold conditions, the Jharkhand Government has announced the extension of School holidays. Earlier, the schools were supposed to reopen on January 9, which will now reopen on January 16, 2023.
To be noted that the holiday has been extended only for students of Nursery to class 5 of all government, aided, recognized and private schools in the state.
Students from remaining classes would be required to go to school as per their given time table until further orders are issued.
Earlier on January 3, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Vijaya Jadhav declared holidays for students of classes Nursery to 5 till January 8.
It is worth mentioning that westerly wind flowing across Jharkhand has led to a decline in the minimum temperature of the city.
The cause of the dipping mercury levels is westerly winds.
According to weather expert Abhishek Anand, “There is no possibility of any relief from chilling weather for the next three days. Cold winds will blow and increase the chill. Due to high wind speed, sunshine will also not give much relief against cold. In the low-lying areas of the state too, there will be no relief. The chilling weather will continue till 15th January.”
