Jamshedpur, Oct 27: The Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry has put forth recommendations to mobile and electronic manufacturing companies, urging them to adopt distinct models for the sale of goods by local traditional shopkeepers and online companies.
The rationale behind this plea is the contrasting business policies employed by online companies, which offer attractive discounts and various gift offers to customers. These policies make it challenging for traditional local shopkeepers to compete, as they have additional expenses to manage.
President Vijay Anand Moonka and General Secretary Manav Kedia jointly conveyed this information. Local traditional shopkeepers, who have sustained their businesses across generations, play a significant role in the overall development of the state and the nation. They contribute to various forms of taxation for the government and remain steadfast in supporting their communities, especially during times of joy, sorrow, natural disasters, and adverse circumstances.
These business owners are responsible for paying salaries and wages to their employees, which also extends to supporting their family members. Consequently, they cannot afford to offer discounts and gifts on par with online companies, leading customers to be lured by the latter. As a result, the businesses of traditional permanent shopkeepers are dwindling, and their future appears uncertain. This trend may have far-reaching consequences, such as rising unemployment.
To safeguard against this, the Singhbhum Chamber urges mobile and electronic companies to categorize online and traditional shopkeepers separately. They recommend providing unique models to online companies that do not overlap with the products sold by local traditional shopkeepers.
In addition to President Vijay Anand Moonka and Honorary General Secretary Manav Kedia, various office bearers including Vice President Anil Modi, and others asked online companies to promptly consider these suggestions from the Chamber and take action to support the traditional local shopkeepers’ businesses
