Jamshedpur, May 15: Jamshedpur East MLA Saryu Roy said he would move the court in case the Jharkhand government fails to initiate prosecution proceedings against the culprits of Manhart scam by 21st May.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Roy said, “Jharkhand High Court has twice issued clear directive to lodge a case with the Commissioner or Secretary of Anti Corruption Bureau, saying that the Bureau would take action if the case has grounds. The Bureau conducted preliminary inquiry and identified the accused persons. The investigator has submitted the inquiry report six months ago and found the accused persons guilty. The then Urban Development Minister was found guilty in the scam. His name figures in the first place on the list of accused persons. The file pertaining to taking action after lodging FIR with the senior officials of the Bureau is pending ever since.”
Roy said he had raised the issue in the Jharkhand Assembly. “On 20th March last, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister of Jharkhand had informed the House that the government would take action against the accused persons found guilty in the case within two months. But unfortunately, less than a week’s time is left for the government’s deadline to expire. It seems that the state government is under pressure,” he said.
Roy said he had authored a book titled ‘Lamhon Ki Khata’ based on the Manhart scam and given detailed information about the scam with proof. “I have given copies of the book to the leaders of all political parties and none of them has ever contradicted even a single allegation made therein. I have also given a copy to the ACB DGP. But it is unfortunate that the government is not taking action even after completion of the probe. This is against the principles of natural justice and proof of government’s slackness in taking action against corruption,” said the MLA.
Roy said he would take legal recourse and would also send a notice of contempt of the Assembly against the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to the Speaker in case the government’s assurance to prosecute the Manhart scam culprits remains unfulfilled after 21st May.
