Jamshedpur, June 19: After years of delay, 322 dwelling units built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) were handed over to beneficiaries at Birsanagar on Friday.

The programme was inaugurated virtually by Jharkhand Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu, while Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy joined online from Ranchi.

The housing project, launched in 2018 for economically weaker and low-income families, was originally scheduled for completion in 2023 but remained pending for nearly three years.

Supporters of Saryu Roy said the project gained momentum following his persistent follow-up with authorities to expedite its completion.

Officials said the housing complex will provide beneficiaries with secure shelter and improved civic amenities, marking a significant step in strengthening affordable housing infrastructure in Jamshedpur.
