Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy intervened on Friday to end the hunger strike of Amresh Kumar, who had been protesting since Thursday over traffic safety and public issues. Roy offered Amresh juice to break his fast and assured him that he had spoken to the Deputy Commissioner, who assigned the matter to the SDO. Roy will meet the SDO on Saturday to discuss further action.
The protest was triggered by a tragic road accident in which Krishna Sharma (40) and his daughter Anjali Sharma (19) lost their lives near Barigora, Jemco Machhua Basti (Telco PS). Vicky Sharma (18), Krishna’s son, was critically injured and is undergoing treatment at MGM Hospital.
During the visit, Roy met the bereaved family and assured financial and medical aid. The family urged better treatment for Vicky Sharma, prompting Roy to call the MGM Hospital Superintendent, directing immediate attention to his care.
Roy emphasized that removing heavy vehicles from roads is the key to preventing such accidents and assured efforts to improve traffic management.
