LPG Cylinder Leak Triggers Major Fire in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A leaking LPG cylinder triggered a fire in the Sakchi police station area on Sunday, causing widespread panic as flames engulfed a company quarter on Straight Mile Road. The blaze broke out at Quarter No. L4/98 while residents prepared a meal in the kitchen. The fire intensified within moments, consuming the kitchen before rapidly spreading throughout the rest of the house.

Upon receiving the report, Sakchi police reached the scene to assess the situation while fire tenders from Tata Steel and the Jharkhand Fire Brigade deployed immediately. Firefighters executed a coordinated rescue and containment operation with remarkable speed, bringing the blaze under control and preventing a major catastrophe.

Family members reported that the fire destroyed furniture, clothing, and essential household items, resulting in an estimated loss of approximately Rs 1.5 lakh. Although the property sustained significant damage, the incident resulted in no casualties. Preliminary investigations identify a gas cylinder leak as the cause of the fire. Local residents credited the timely intervention of the fire services for preventing the flames from reaching adjacent quarters, and authorities have now initiated a detailed investigation.
