‘This year we have decided to flag off the 5 km run separately for girls and boys as it attracts the maximum participation’, informed Kumar.
Col. Neeraj Kumar, an avid runner, said, there cannot be a better place to host a run-a-thon as Tatas in more than 100 years of their presence in Jamshedpur have done a lot for the development of sports and have provided sporting facilities which other big cities dream off.
‘I would like to request the Tatas to upgrade the annual run-a-thon event to half marathon as we have the facilities here and I assure that the army will be all out supporting the event’, added Col. Neeraj Kumar.
Sunil Bhaskaran, Vice-President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel, launched the T-shirt for the Jamshedpur run-a-thon. On the occasion he said that till date we have received around 2000 registration which itself shows the level of excitement among the citizens and the run-a-thon being organised with the onset of winter the weather will be great.
When asked about any top names participating in the fitness run, Bhaskaran informed that Tata Steel managing director TV Narendran along with Arjuna Awardees, Everesters and national runners will attend the run-a-thon.
‘Last year 5000 people participated in the annual run and we hope that the number increases this time’, said Bhaskaran, adding, ‘We would like to spread the message about fitness and healthy work-life balance as for running a individual just needs shoes and can live a healthy life’.
