Jamshedpur, August 28: The residents of Jawaharnagar in Mango Road # 10, have been grappling with water scarcity since the past four days. The hardest hit are 50 households in Mohalla Sant Kutia Gurudwara.
On being informed of the persisting water crisis on Monday, BJP leader Vikas Singh visited the area and listened to the problems of the residents. Local women informed that the water scarcity had disrupted their daily routines. They complained that every household was making do with water purchased from the market and that was telling on their purse strings.
Vikas Singh tried to contact the Junior Engineer of the Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, Pandit Mahato on the issue but the call remained unanswered.
The BJP leader then contacted the contractor concerned and informed him about the water supply problem in the locality. The contractor stated that there was a problem in the intake well that was posing water supply problems. However, the contractor assured that the issue would be resolved soon.
Vikas Singh stated that the Mango Municipal Corporation had been requested to supply water through tankers. Those present along with the BJP leader were Vikas Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Sandeep Sharma, Sukhbir Kaur, Swarn Kaur, Manjeet Kaur, Savinder Kaur, Manisha Khandelwal and Nisha Ganguly.
