Jamshedpur, April 28: Priyajit Chatterjee, a resident of ECC Flat under Kadma police station, fell victim to cybercrime as cybercriminals siphoned off Rs 50,000 from his account. Priyajit has filed an FIR against the owner of mobile number 9586462722 at the Kadma police station.

Narrating the incident, Priyajit explained that he held an account with SBI. On April 26, he received a message from a number indicating the absence of KYC verification in his account. The message warned that failure to complete KYC might result in a halt to transaction facilities. The message contained a link purportedly for KYC verification.

Upon clicking the link, Priyajit encountered a page resembling SBI Internet Banking, prompting him to enter an OTP received on his mobile. However, upon entering the OTP, ₹50,000 was immediately debited from his account.

Kadma police has initiated an investigation into the matter after registering the FIR.
