Jamshedpur, March 21: Adityapur resident Jyoti Bala, has, in an innovative manner, come up with eco-friendly paint made from cow dung that offers numerous benefits over conventional chemical-based alternatives. With a commitment to indigenous technology, Jyoti Bala’s initiative not only promotes environmental sustainability but also generates employment opportunities for approximately 120 families in the vicinity of the production plant.
The eco-friendly paint, derived from a blend of cow dung, water, corn flour, castor oil, and natural gum extracted from trees, boasts several advantages. Unlike its chemical counterparts, this paint emits no foul odor and contributes to a cooler indoor environment by reducing room temperature by 3-4 degrees when applied on walls. The product offers anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, serves as a natural thermal insulator, and is devoid of heavy metals and toxic elements.
Supported by her husband, Manoj Kumar, Jyoti Bala inaugurated the processing plant on March 7 in Hathimara village, Seraikela Kharsawan district, under her company banner, ‘Natural Paint.’ The venture not only engages local families in cow dung procurement but also provides employment to youth in the village.
The initiative, facilitated by loans from Khadi Gramudyog and KVIC, underlines the potential for cottage industries to address both economic and environmental challenges. With plans to launch the product on April 14, Jyoti Bala’s enterprise marks a significant step towards sustainable development and rural empowerment.
