Jamshedpur reports two new COVID cases, patients admitted to Tata Motors Hospital

Health Minister issues alert

Jamshedpur: Two new cases of COVID-19 have emerged in Jamshedpur, raising concerns about the reactivation of the virus in the city. Both patients have been admitted to Tata Motors Hospital’s general ward. In the entire state of Jharkhand, there are only two active COVID cases, both of which are in Jamshedpur.

As the nation grapples with a total of 1,296 positive cases, with 1,140 deaths reported so far in the district, the Health Minister Banna Gupta, has issued an alert. Health Minister emphasised the necessity of maintaining constant vigil over the COVID situation.

Additionally, genome sequencing has been ordered across the entire state.

The RTPCR laboratory has been instructed to enhance testing capacity due to the increasing of new COVID cases in the country. Observing this trend, Health Minister Banna Gupta has called upon all officials to be vigilant in their respective areas to curb the spread of the virus.

In a virtual meeting with the Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, Banna Gupta discussed the need for allocating essential resources to the health department. The collaborative efforts aim to address the challenges posed by the surge in COVID-19 cases.

India has so far reported 21 cases of the new coronavirus variant JN.1 from across the country. The World Health Organisation has classified COVID-19 strain JN.1 as a separate “variant of interest” given its rapidly increasing spread but said that it poses a “low” global public health risk.
