Jamshedpur: D.B.M.S English School celebrated its Annual Sports Day on Wednesday, transforming the school field into a vibrant spectacle of colors, competition, and camaraderie. The event saw a display of true sportsmanship, perseverance, and honesty as students from the Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow houses competed for top honors.
The prestigious occasion was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, JP Singh, Head Coach of the Indian Basketball Team and International Player. The school managing committee members, Principal Rajani Shekar, Vice Principal P.K. Sahu, and coordinators from various levels added to the august gathering.
The festivities kicked off with a March Past, led by Commander-in-Chief Amna Khan, showcasing impeccable coordination and precision. The school senate, headed by President Sudhanshu Ojha and Vice President Anant Jain, along with other key members, led the four houses in a spirited procession.
House Captains and Vice Captains, including Ansh Tewary, Utkarsh Kumar, Ujwal Kumar, and Prachi Rani, displayed exemplary leadership as they led their squads in various events. The National Squad, comprising students with national-level achievements in CISCE Boxing, Hockey, Handball, Athletics, etc., added prestige to the parade.
A standout moment was the drill display by Std 7 students, themed “Rhythm in Motion,” promoting the United Nations’ declaration of 2023 as the International Millet Year. The fusion of Yoga and Zumba aimed to raise awareness about the benefits of millets. STD. VII students also showcased their prowess in Karate, while the younger participants from Std. 3 presented “Moment of Glory,” celebrating India’s achievements in space exploration, including the Chandrayaan 3 mission.
The sporting spirit reached its peak as students from various levels competed in races and other events, contributing to the overall glory of their respective houses. The RED House emerged as the overall champions, while the GREEN House secured the Best March Past trophy.
The event concluded with a soul-stirring rendition of the school anthem followed by the national anthem, marking the end of a day filled with athletic prowess, cultural displays, and a celebration of unity through sports.
