Jamshedpur, May 8: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner has sought information from the Mango Municipal Corporation and the Road Construction Department regarding the road and drain construction being done by the Road Construction Department, Road Division Jamshedpur in Ward No. 9 of Mango Nani under Ulidih OP.
Expressing objection regarding the construction of the said road and drain, the Adivasi Jan Kalyan Samiti had complained to the Deputy Commissioner.
Chairman of the committee Kailash Birua told that account number 908, plot number 4516 and account number 909, plot number 4394 are cremation grounds. The tribal society (Ho, Munda, Santal, Kamar Tanti etc.) has been using the said land for burial.
In the meanwhile, the construction of road and drain was started there by the Road Construction Department without holding a gram sabha. Kailash Birua told that the dead body has been buried at the said cremation ground. The proof of this can be done by digging five to six feet there. It is said that in the year 2014 some people have encroached upon the government fallow land adjacent to Shamsham Bhoomi. Along with this, boundary wall has been constructed there.
Road and drain are being constructed at the cremation ground (crematorium) of the tribals adjacent to the same boundary wall. On the other hand, Mango Municipal Corporation refused to approve any kind of plan there.
