Jamshedpur, May 9: Jamshedpur experienced a sudden change in weather on Wednesday, bringing relief from the scorching heat that had been gripping the city. The skies began to darken on Thursday morning, with thick clouds gathering momentum throughout the day. By 4 pm, the city was enveloped in dense, ominous clouds, followed by heavy rain accompanied by thunder and storms.
The downpour, lasting for about half an hour, brought much-needed respite to residents, alleviating the oppressive humidity and heat. The sudden shift in weather transformed the day into what seemed like night for some time, offering a welcome break from the relentless summer sun. In Jamshedpur, 25.8 mm of rainfall was recorded, while Seraikela received 39 mm of rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Department, the impact of the cyclone will continue to be felt in Jharkhand until May 11, prompting caution among residents. However, May 12 and 13 may see thunderstorms in isolated areas. In anticipation of further rain, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for several districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribagh, and others. Wind speeds during this period are expected to range from 40-50 km per hour.
