Jamshedpur, May 5: The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (V) cum Special POCSO Act Judge Sanjay Kumar Upadhyaya sentenced one Sunny Gope to life imprisonment for raping and brutally killing a five year old girl in Sidhgora here on Thursday. It also slapped a fine of Rs 20,000 on him.
Gope was convicted on 30th April last. The minor was raped by the accused when she had gone out of her grandmother’s place to play with her friends in Fauja Bagan, Sidhgora, on 16th August. Ever since, she did not return home. Later, her body was found from Sidhgora Chhath Ghat. The minor was brutally killed after being raped by the accused.
Meanwhile, in another case of rape, one Ram Lohar was acquitted by a court here in a six year old case. Lohar was accused of exploiting a woman sexually after making false promise to marry her. He was also accused of subjecting her to forced abortion.
