Jamshedpur: Cash and valuables worth Rs 2 lakh stolen from Tata Steel employee’s house

Jamshedpur, May 5: Unidentified thieves took away cash and jewelery worth rs 2 lakh from a house in Farm Area, Road No 10, under Kadma police station late Wednesday night, police said.

According to police, the family of Asit Mahato, a Tata Steel employee, had gone to a party in Uliyan. After two and a half hours, the family returned home and found the household articles in a mess. On checking inside, they found the cash and ornaments missing from the safe.

Later, Asit lodged a police complaint against unidentified persons. The thieves had reportedly gained access in the house through the backdoor. They took the rods off the window and entered the house.

Ironically, Asit’s house is a stone’s throw away from the nearest police outpost.
