Ranchi, Oct 15: The Jharkhand government and GAIL (India) Limited on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up a 340-km long gas pipeline in the state.
The MoU was signed between officials of the Jharkhand government and GAIL in the presence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das. The project will be completed by 2019.�
Speaking on the occasion, Das said: “As people take water from water tap, the consumers will take gas in similar manner after the gas pipeline work is completed.”� With the Jagdishpur Haldia Pipeline Project implementation, people could avail this facility. CM thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the implementation of gas-based economic development in East India under Urja Ganga Project as announced by the PM earlier in Ranchi.
Laying stress on Eco-friendly & renewable Energy for a �Green Jharkhand�, the CM said that that we should use these sources of energy to save our environment & keep it clean & green.
Referring to solar light installation at Khunti Court, the first court of the nation to be supplied with solar energy, which was inaugurated by the PM on 2nd Oct., the CM said that the MOU with GAIL India will strengthen our point of view on energy.
This will attract investment in the state & create employment. The CM said that the state govt. will render all possible help to make this scheme successful. The state govt. will provide land immediately for the project so that the project can be completed by 2019.
It should be noted that J.H.P.L. (Jagdishpur Haldia Pipeline Ltd.) will pass through 6 districts of Jharkhand (Bokaro, Giridih, Hazaribag, Singhbhum, Ranchi & Dhanbad) covering a total length of 340 km in the state. It will have 174 km main line & 166 km spur line. Bokaro steel & Sindri Fertilizers will be supplied with natural gas & gas distribution network will be strengthened in Ranchi & Jamshedpur.
Executive Director, GAIL, A. K. Jana & Director, Industry Department K. Ravi Kumar signed an MOU. On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the CM Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Industry Dept. U.P. Singh, Secretary to the CM Sunil Kr. Burnwal, CMD GAIL B. C. Tripathi & officials of GAIL India Ltd. were present.
