Immersion on March 28
Jamshedpur: The Central Ram Navami Akhara Committee has finalised the schedule for this year’s festivities following a key meeting at the Sheetla Temple premises. Led by Committee President Ashutosh Singh, the members reached a unanimous decision after consulting with local scholars and priests.
Key Dates and Timings
The committee clarified the dates based on the lunar calendar and sunrise calculations:
- Ram Navami Puja: Friday, March 27, 2026.
- Immersion Procession: Saturday, March 28, 2026.
The Logic Behind the Dates:
According to the committee, the Navami Tithi begins at 2:11 PM on March 26 and concludes at 12:02 PM on March 27. Based on traditional sunrise calculations (Udaya Tithi), the official celebration will fall on March 27.
Guidelines for Akharas
The committee has issued a set of directives to all Akhara groups across the city to ensure a smooth and peaceful celebration:
- Strict Adherence to Dates: All groups must organise their rituals and immersion schedules according to the declared dates.
- Licencing: Akhara heads must submit their licence applications promptly to local police stations to avoid last-minute administrative hurdles.
- Police Coordination: Members stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination with local law enforcement to manage crowds and traffic during the processions.
Looking Ahead: Zonal Meetings
To ensure the festival is celebrated with grandeur and peace, the committee plans to conduct zonal meetings across the city. These sessions will address local concerns, logistics, and security arrangements for each neighbourhood.
