Jamshedpur Punjabi Samaj holds AGM

Jamshedpur, June 18: Annual General Meeting of Punjabi Samaj, Jamshedpur was held for the year 2016-17 on Monday.

Members in large numbers were present at the AGM.

Vice President of the samaj Vinod Arora started with the opening remarks and convened the proceedings of the meeting.

President Gian Taneja thanked all the members for attending the AGM as well as thanked them for their involvement and participation in all activities like Baishaki, Diwali, Lohri etc organized by the Samaj. He appreciated the members for their participation during the launch of the Samaj Website, tree plantation, portable morgue etc.

The President emphasized that we should stand together with each other during good and bad times.

Rajiv Talwar presented the treasurers report and the accounts for the year 2016-17.
Gopal Taneja wanted to know more details of collection – which was clarified by Rajiv Talwar.

Secretary , Sanjeev Seghal gave detailed report on all the activities of The Samaj like tree plantation; launching of website http://www.punjadisamajjsr.com by Ashish Mathur, MD, JUSCO; portable morgue by R.N Sharma; date wise celebration of Punjabi festivals like Lohri, Karwa Chouth , Sonia Di Sargi, Diwali – with a good involvement and participation by members.

Seghal also gave the report on Lajpat Public School. The school has grown more than 100% and all activities of school were organized like annual sports, science exhibitions; school also started smart classes and computer classes during the year.

He informed that the main hall of the school was modernized and will be Air Conditioned during the year.

Secretaries report was passed by Mr Chopra and seconded by Nandraj Jog. Accounts were passed by Mangilal Chawla and seconded by Satpal Pawa. Rajindra Sachdeva, Vice President , took care of the open session. The response from volunteers was very encouraging.

Poonam Vig gave suggestions of a mass marriages and tree Plantation. Satpal Pawa wanted that we should start Punjabi language as optional subject in our school. Rajan Sachdeva suggested we should start organizing medical camps and H.K Chawla suggested that we should meet every month. All suggestions were noted for consideration. Yogesh Malhotra extended the vote of thanks.
