Jamshedpur: Protest against delay in apprehending murder accused

Jamshedpur, Nov 18: Three days after the murder of shopkeeper Abhishek Hembram in Parsudih’s Chholagoda area, police remained empty-handed in apprehending the accused. Frustrated family members and villagers gathered at the Parsudih police station on Monday in protest against delay in apprehending the murder accused.

The protest prompted DSP Law and Order, Tauqeer Alam, to visit the police station and hold discussions with the agitated crowd. The family members of the deceased submitted a demand letter to the DSP, detailing their grievances and expectations. After assurances from the authorities, the protest was called off.

Abhishek Hembram, a ration store dealer, was allegedly shot dead by a group of 4-5 persons, including local shopkeeper Roshan Hembram and Bhola Honaga, at his residence. Despite police efforts, no arrests had thus far been made.

Carrying placards demanding justice, villagers and family members pressed for strict action, including the death penalty for the perpetrators. The village head warned that if no concrete action was taken, the protest would escalate, with plans to gherao the SSP office.
