Jamshedpur Private Schools Must Follow Govt Rules,” says DSE

Jamshedpur, Jan 2: District Superintendent of Education (DSE) Ashish Kumar Pandey on Friday said that private schools must strictly follow government rules and regulations, including provisions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Commenting on the private school association’s decision to consider legal action, Pandey said schools are free to approach the court, but the education department is bound to follow government directives.

He clarified that schools located in the Tata lease area are categorised as government-aided schools, and therefore reimbursement of fees for children from reserved categories is not applicable to them. However, fees for students studying in private schools outside the Tata lease area are being reimbursed as per existing rules. Pandey also warned that any violation of RTE norms would invite punitive action and said schools cannot increase fees without prior approval.
