Jamshedpur prepares for grand Rath Yatra today

Jamshedpur, July 16: The Steel City is all set to immerse itself in devotion and festivity as the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath rolls out tomorrow, drawing thousands of devotees from across Jamshedpur and adjoining districts.

One of the city’s most revered religious events, the procession will witness elaborately decorated chariots, chanting of hymns, devotional music and a sea of worshippers accompanying Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra through the city’s major thoroughfares.
To facilitate the smooth conduct of the grand procession and ensure public safety, the East Singhbhum Police have put in place an extensive traffic management plan, including road closures, diversions and temporary changes to the city’s no-entry regulations.

According to an advisory issued by the Office of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), several key roads will remain closed while vehicular movement will be regulated between 2 pm and 11 pm.
The police have appealed to commuters to avoid restricted routes, use designated diversions and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed along the procession route.
As part of the arrangements, the entire stretch from Voltas crossing through Chhaganlal Chowk to Regal roundabout will remain closed to traffic in both directions. Vehicles travelling from Jugsalai towards Sakchi will be diverted through alternative routes to ease congestion around the procession.

Motorists approaching Sakchi from Voltas will be routed via Kharkai Road, Maila Tanki, Tulsi Bhavan, Sonnet Hotel, Dhatkidih Harijan Basti, Dhatkidih TOP, Loyola School, Loyola Traffic Signal and Jubilee Park.
Similarly, vehicles travelling from Mango towards Bistupur and Jugsalai will be diverted through Marine Drive.
Special diversions have also been notified for four-wheelers arriving from Sundernagar. Such vehicles will be routed through Karandih Chowk, Ghaghidih Jail, Pani Tanki, Mazar, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Chaibasa Bus Stand and Tatanagar railway station before proceeding towards Sakchi and Bistupur.
Traffic arrangements have also been revised for the Mango-Dimna corridor. As the Rath Yatra proceeds from Bada Hanuman Temple to Mango Chowk and onward to Dimna Chowk, vehicles approaching from Sakchi will be diverted via Mango Police Station towards Pardih Chowk. Later, when the procession moves from Dimna Chowk through Transport Nagar to Rajasthan Bhavan, all vehicles approaching Dimna Chowk will be redirected towards Pardih Chowk.
The SSP’s office has also temporarily modified the city’s no-entry schedule. The revised restrictions will remain effective from 2 pm to 11 pm, following which the normal no-entry timings will be restored.
Police have directed all traffic officials to ensure uninterrupted movement of ambulances, fire services and other emergency vehicles through dedicated alternative corridors during the procession.
The administration has urged residents, devotees and motorists to strictly follow the traffic advisory and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure that one of Jamshedpur’s most celebrated religious festivals is conducted peacefully, safely and without inconvenience to the public.
