Jamshedpur: Pre Monsoon rains to increase from May 13

Jamshedpur, May 10 : Pre monsoon rains may increase around May 13 as far as pre-monsoon rains are concerned, there is a level of variation in parts of the country which is common during the month of May. During the last couple of days, North, Northeast as well as southern parts of the country all saw rainfall activities.
However, now, the next three days, are expected to be quiet for the northern plains while the hills will see rains starting evening of May 12.

The cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and adjoining Odisha and West Bengal is expected to become more marked and will increase rains over Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal and Bihar. Due to this system and the anti-cyclone over Bay of Bengal, moist winds will be pushed towards Northeast India resulting in rains. Thus, cities of Kolkata, Ranchi, Jamshedpur are expected to see some rains.

With cloud build-up and increased humidity, the Meteorological Department forecasts occasional pre-monsoon showers to provide relief for the citizens of the coast from the soaring mercury levels.

After nearly one week of rising heat levels, rains are back in the district. While there was drizzle reported on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, the office has recorded nearly 3mm of rainfall at their gauge in the city.

Officially, the arrival of monsoon is declared when a place records nearly 3 mm of pre-monsoon rainfall for three consecutive days.

According to statistics available at the regional meteorological office, last year, the first spell of monsoon arrived in the state on June 16 while neighbouring West Bengal experienced it a day before.

According to weatherman at the local office, this year the monsoon is expected to stretch for a longer period as it was delayed by about 10 days.
