Jamshedpur powerlifter wins three medals in National Championship

 

Jamshedpur: Anakh Raj Singh, a resident of Sonari, brought pride to Jamshedpur and the Sikh community by winning three medals at the 15th National Powerlifting Championship held in Andhra Pradesh. Following his achievement, he was felicitated by the Central Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (CGPC) at its office on Thursday.

Anakh Raj Singh secured a gold medal in the deadlift category by lifting 242 kg. He also won a silver medal in the squat category with a lift of 225 kg and another silver medal in the overall total category with a combined lift of 595 kg.

Members of the CGPC praised his dedication and hard work and encouraged him to continue excelling in the sport. The committee assured him of full support in his future sporting journey.

Speaking during the felicitation programme, CGPC members said that Anakh’s success has brought honour not only to the Sikh community but also to the entire city.

Among those present at the event were CGPC Executive President Sukhwinder Singh Raju, Chairman Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary Amarjit Singh, Gurcharan Singh Billa, Senior Advisor Parvinder Singh Sohal, Gurnam Singh Bedi, Sukhdev Singh Bittu, Sarabjit Grewal, Ranjit Singh Ekalgadda, Sukhwant Singh Sukkhu, Charanjit Singh, Satbir Singh Satte, Satpal Singh, and several women members of the community.
