Jamshedpur, Jan 9: Jamshedpur streets are witnessing a bold crackdown, as police swing into action against a rising trend that has turned deadly—rash driving, dangerous stunts, and the glamorization of reckless behavior in the name of moto-blogging. The Jamshedpur police has sent a loud and clear message: No more endangering lives for likes and views.
Recently, seven college students, aged between 18 and 21, found themselves at the center of this storm. Arrested for performing stunts on Jamshedpur’s roads, these young thrill-seekers claimed to be moto-bloggers, documenting their adrenaline-pumping acts for social media fame.
But this fame came with a hefty price. Police seized their modified bikes and slapped fines totaling Rs50,000 under various traffic violations, including rash driving, illegal modifications, and public endangerment.

The story took a darker twist when senior officers decided to investigate further. As they scrolled through the youths’ social media accounts, shockwaves ran through the team. Videos showed high-speed antics, stunts bordering on madness, and blatant disregard for traffic laws, all taking place on the streets of Jamshedpur.
Superintendent of Police (SP) City Kumar Shivashish described the operation as part of a broader mission. “We are running special drives to make our roads safer and reduce accidents involving youths. These videos create a ripple effect, influencing other youngsters to engage in similar acts.”
The SP further revealed that the police is now closely monitoring social media platforms. If creators are found uploading dangerous content involving rash driving or stunts, their videos will be used against them as per the law. “Police will directly recommend for license cancellations to the district transport officer (DTO) for people found promoting speed, rash or bike-stunts on the city roads,” he added.
Om Prakash, a prominent advocate at Jamshedpur’s Civil Court said, “It has become a trend for youths to post these videos online. Under the new rules of the Evidence Act, such content can be used as proof in court, leading to suspensions, license cancellations, or even imprisonment,” he said.
The advocate’s warning comes at a time when social media platforms are flooded with content glorifying speed and danger. What these influencers fail to realize is that the law is catching up. “What seems like entertainment for some is a legal offense that could have life-altering consequences,” Prakash stated.
