Jamshedpur Police Parade Molestation Accused in Public

Jamshedpur: Bagbera Police arrested and jailed a man on Saturday for allegedly assaulting and molesting a woman in the Naya Basti area. The accused, identified as Kanhaiya Rajak, reportedly burned the victim with a cigarette during the attack. After a video of the incident went viral on social media, police swiftly apprehended Rajak and paraded him in handcuffs through the locality to reassure residents and dismantle his influence.

Handcuffed Parade through Naya Basti

Before sending him to judicial custody, the police forced Rajak to walk through the streets of Naya Basti. Officials stated that the accused frequently intimidated locals to create an atmosphere of fear. By parading him publicly, the police aimed to send a clear message: the law will take stern action against those who terrorize the community. The move encouraged witnesses to come forward without fear of retaliation.

Injuries During Arrest Attempt

Following the public parade, police brought the accused to the SSP office for a press briefing. Observers noted Rajak limping as he entered the premises. City SP Kumar Shivashish explained that the accused sustained minor injuries while attempting to flee during the police raid.

A Criminal History

During the disclosure, City SP Shivashish revealed that Kanhaiya Rajak is a repeat offender with two prior cases of assault registered at the Bagbera Police Station. The SP emphasized that the department maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women and acts immediately upon receiving the complaint.

CCTV Evidence Confirms Brutality

The incident, which occurred on the evening of March 5, was caught entirely on CCTV. The footage shows Rajak assaulting the woman and threatening nearby shopkeepers, forcing them to shut their businesses. While several bystanders were present during the attack, none intervened due to the accused’s reputation. Police are now securing this electronic evidence to ensure a strong legal case against him.
