Jamshedpur, Feb 27: Mango police apprehended three persons, including the gang leader, for possession of a stolen bike. The arrested suspects were identified as Nirmal Chaudhary alias Nanu, a resident of Shankosai, Shibu Karmakar alias Shibu, and Sonu Kumar Sharma alias Toto, both residents of Daiguttu.
According to DSP Headquarters (Forest) Bhola Prasad Singh, bike theft incidents had seen a notable surge in the area recently. Acting on information about bike thieves operating in the vicinity, the police initiated an anti-crime operation near Payal Cinema.
During the operation, police intercepted three youths riding a bike heading towards Mango Chowk from Bada Hanuman Temple. Upon spotting the police, they attempted to flee but were apprehended after a chase.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the bike being stolen and revealed their modus operandi involving the use of a master key for theft and subsequent sale of the stolen bikes. The gang purportedly involved more individuals, prompting ongoing police raids to apprehend the remaining members.
