Jamshedpur, March 1: Police started an intensive anti-crime checking drive across the city on Tuesday and cracked down on several addicts and rash drivers at various places. Over two dozen bikes have been seized so far, cops said.
Leading the police campaign, SP City Subhash Chandra Jat said the purpose of the checking was to prevent crimes like loot, theft and other offences. “We have started the drive against addicts and rash drivers many of whom commit such crimes across the city. The campaign will continue in the days to come. We are going to deal strictly with criminals making the city unsafe,” he said.
Jat said a mobile police squad was patrolling the city and identifying crime hotspots and gangs responsible for loots, thefts and other crimes.
The SP confiscated five vehicles near Sir Dorabji Tata Park at Bistupur. To his surprise, all motorcyclists were minors. A police team cracked down on the group of bikers who gather near the park in the evenings and perform daredevilry on road. The minors were charged with rash driving.
