Jamshedpur, Feb 17: Taking a serious note of the spurt in incidents of thefts and loot in the city, the police have started a special police patrolling system during night in the Steel City. A search drive is also being conducted at several parts of the city.
The East Singhbhum district police have taken steps for increasing vigil in and around residential flats of the city. The police have failed to nab those involved in looting cash worth 32 lakhs from the staff of Chhaganlal Dalayjee Sons
An official deputed to investigate into the incident said that they are conducting raids but have not been able to establish a clue to the gang behind the loot.

Meanwhile, senior superintendent of police, M Tamil Vanan who is monitoring the probe into the case has instructed the officers-in-charge of all the police stations in the city to ensure an enhanced patrolling around the residential apartment, surprise checking of all mode of vehicles and regular monitoring the CCTV cameras installed on the main thoroughfares as well as the roads leading to the residential apartments.
“One police officer from the police station concerned would keep an eye on the movement of constables deployed at different places under the system,” a police official informed. These constables would keep an eye on suspicious elements moving at night and check them.
Officials said that constables on foot would be deployed in a stretch of every one km for patrolling. Several other constables would be deployed for the purpose, besides patrolling by the local police.
“Burglaries have increased during the winter as many families are away on vacation. Specially constituted patrolling squads have already been deployed under the limits of the Mango and Sakchi,” said police official
” We are concerned over the prevailing situation. We have decided that everyday one police officer from the police station concerned would keep an eye on the movement of constables deployed at different places under the system,” a police official informed. These constables would keep an eye on suspicious elements moving at night and check them.
He said that persons, whose movements were found to be suspicious, were detained in the last two months. Besides, the police have been keeping extra vigil in residential colonies not only during night but daytime too.
