Jamshedpur: Keeping in view Diwali rush, the traffic wing of East Singhbhum police has issued traffic restrictions to be followed for the three days. Traffic DSP Shivendra Kumar issued a directive imposing restriction on movement of heavy vehicles including trucks, trailers and dumpers from 3 pm to 11 pm tomorrow. Buses are kept out of the purview of the restriction.
“There will heavy rush during Diwali shopping. We have therefore imposed restriction on movement of heavy vehicles which is an attempt to prevent any untoward incident,” said Kumar.
The same restriction on movement of heavy vehicles excluding buses would remain tomorrow on November 6 ( Kali Puja) while on the day of Diwali on November 7 ban on movement of heavy vehicles would be imposed for 24 hours from 6 am of November 7 to 6 am of November 8. Long distance buses would be however allowed to ply.
The traffic department would deploy constables at important intersections in Sakchi, Bistupur and Mango to ensure smooth movement of smaller vehicles like cars, auto-rickshaws and two-wheelers. Deployment of constables would also be made near the Sakchi roundabout which witnesses a huge traffic during the three day festivity.
The traffic DSP said that they are initiating steps for stopping illegal parking as well a pre-Diwal drive has been launched against traffic violators not using helmets and seat belts.
