Jamshedpur Police foil crime plan, two held with illegal firearm

Jamshedpur, June 19: Acting on a confidential tip-off, East Singhbhum Police apprehended two youths and recovered an illegal country-made pistol, a live cartridge, and a Yamaha R15 motorcycle during a swift operation near Dimna Chowk under the Ulidih police station area.
According to a police press release, senior police officials received information on June 18 that a man carrying an illegal firearm was moving around on a blue Yamaha R15 motorcycle and was allegedly planning to execute a major criminal act.
Taking the input seriously, a special raiding team was constituted under the supervision of senior officers.
The team, led by Patamda Deputy Superintendent of Police Dayanand Kumar, launched a prompt operation and intercepted the motorcycle rider near Dimna Chowk.
During the search, police recovered a 7.65 mm country-made pistol and one live round of ammunition from his possession.
During interrogation, the arrested individual disclosed that he had allegedly purchased the weapon from his associate for Rs 30,000. Based on the information, police arrested the second accused and initiated legal proceedings against both. They have been sent to judicial custody.

* Abhishek Kumar alias SRK (26), a resident of Aastha Valley, Tamolia, Kapali, Saraikela-Kharsawan district.

* Abhishek Das (25), a resident of Janata Path, Sankosai Road No. 4, under Ulidih police station, Jamshedpur.

Seized Items :

* One 7.65 mm country-made pistol

* One live 7.65 mm cartridge

*One Yamaha R15 motorcycle (Registration No. JH05CN3828)

Police have stated that the timely action helped avert a potential criminal incident and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
