Jamshedpur Police draw up plan for peaceful Eid, focus on community meetings 

Jamshedpur, April 18: In preparation for the upcoming Eid festivities, the city police department has taken proactive measures to ensure a peaceful celebration. The police department is organising a series of meetings with the peace committees from various communities in the city at the local police stations. Drawing lessons from the recent communal violence at Kadma, police are taking extra care this time.

The meeting was attended by representatives from different religious, cultural, and ethnic communities, including leaders from mosques, churches, temples, community organisations, and local residents. The objective of the meeting was to discuss strategies to maintain peace, harmony, and security during the upcoming Eid festivities, which are expected to be celebrated by the diverse population in the city.

During the meeting, the police officials emphasized the importance of community engagement and collaboration in ensuring a safe and peaceful Eid celebration. They thanked the peace committees for their continued support and cooperation in maintaining law and order in the city during past events. The police also highlighted the need for proactive measures to prevent any potential conflicts or incidents that could disrupt the festive spirit.

The representatives from the peace committees appreciated the efforts of the police department and expressed their commitment to work hand-in-hand with the police to promote peace and harmony in the community. They discussed various strategies, including increased community policing, increased vigilance in crowded areas, and effective communication channels to address any potential issues.

“We want to ensure peaceful celebrations and we are taking steps in this regard. Traffic police departments have been instructed to divert traffic on approach roads leading to mosques and Idgahs at morning when the prayers will be offered. We will also discuss changing the no-entry timing for heavy vehicles with the traffic police as a large number of devotees offer prayers on roads near mosques and Idgahs,” said an official.

Meanwhile, the Steel City is decked up for the occasion Eid.  Markets at Sakchi, Mango, Bistupur and Jugsalai are decked up with different types of goodies.

The people along with their families come out for shopping soon after breaking fast and are seen busy buying shoes, suits, ready-made garments and other items for Eid.

 Most of the shopping markets in Sakchi, Bistupur and Mango have artistically been decorated and illuminated with colorful lights and buntings to attract buyers especially during night.

 Bulk of the shopping centers and fashionable markets have been flooded with domestic and foreign goods as shopkeepers have displayed varieties of ready-made garments, cloths, suits, shoes, cosmetics, eye-catching jewelry and quality three-piece-suits for youth that were rarely seen in the past in the lucrative markets of the city .

 The police department also shared their operational plans for the Eid festivities, including increased police presence in key areas, traffic management measures, and coordination with other law enforcement agencies. They emphasized the importance of mutual trust and cooperation between the police and the community to ensure a safe and enjoyable Eid celebration for everyone.
