Jamshedpur: In a swift breakthrough, the Azadnagar Police cracked a snatching case involving a woman, arresting two adult accused and detaining a minor in conflict with law. The police also recovered the stolen purse, mobile phone, cash and other valuables, providing quick relief to the victim.
Incident Details
According to police sources, the incident occurred on the morning of January 6 when Saba Parveen (40), a resident of Jawahar Nagar under the Azadnagar police station area, went to a nearby chicken shop around 7:45 am. While returning, two unidentified youths on a motorcycle approached her near Road No. 02 and snatched her purse before fleeing.
The stolen purse contained a Vivo mobile phone, a pair of gold earrings, a PAN card, an Aadhaar card, and around ₹10,000 in cash.
Accused Arrested, Minor Detained
Acting promptly on the complaint, Azadnagar police launched an investigation using CCTV footage, technical surveillance and confidential inputs. The probe led to the arrest of Imran Alam (18) and Vakil alias Mohammad Shahrukh (18). A third accused, a minor, was detained and sent to a juvenile correction home as per legal provisions.
Recovery of Stolen Property
Based on the disclosures of the accused, police recovered the snatched purse, mobile phone, cash, important documents and the motorcycle used in the crime—a Hero HF Deluxe bearing registration number JH-05 ED-9875.
Police officials said the prompt action not only ensured recovery of the stolen property but also reinforced the department’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the city.
