Jamshedpur, Dec 6: The police have successfully solved the jewellery theft case reported from Pokhari village under MGM police station, in which ornaments worth Rs 15 lakh were stolen from the house of Mahesh Gaur.
Rural SP Rishabh Garg shared the details of the operation during a press conference held at the district police office on Saturday.
According to the SP, the theft occurred on the night of November 29–30 when the family had gone to attend a wedding ceremony.
On returning, they found the house lock broken and the belongings scattered inside.
Four accused—Sundar Kujur alias Kallu (19) of Shankosai Road No. 5, Rohit Gop (20) of Ektanagar, Manish Rai (25) of Mirzadi, Bodam, and Bikki Singh (35) of Ulidih Dimna Basti—have been arrested.
The investigation revealed that Sundar and Rohit executed the theft and later divided the stolen jewellery between themselves before attempting to sell it.
Police said Sundar had handed over some gold ornaments to Manish Rai to sell, while he sold a gold chain to Bikki Singh for just Rs10,000.
During the operation, police recovered a gold bracelet, mangalsutra, ring, two pairs of tops, two pairs of anklets, a necklace, two gold chains, single-piece gold earrings, two pairs of silver toe rings, a mobile phone bought with the stolen money, a pair of gold tops, a motorcycle, and the iron tool used in the crime.
SP Garg added that Sundar and Rohit have a criminal history and were previously involved in several petty and major offences.
The swift action by the police in nabbing the entire gang has brought relief to the villagers.
