Jamshedpur, May 27: The police busted a gang of thieves by arresting 12 persons in Ramjanam Nagar under Kadma police station area at wee hours of Monday. Those arrested include a 40-year-old woman and a jeweler and remaining thieves are youths between the age-group of 19 years to 28 years.

The police recovered a television set, smartphones, and one induction stove from the possession of the thieves. Moreover, melted gold as well as silver jewelries were recovered from a jewelry shop, Prasad Jewelry, at Bhatia Bustee in Kadma.

City SP, Prabhat Kumar said that at about 1.30 am, the patrolling party got an
information that a gang of six thieves were assembled at football ground in Ramjanam
Nagar with some motive.

“Acting on a tip off, the police party rushed to the spot and on seeing
the police van, the thieves started fleeing. But the police chased them
and nabbed one after another. On being interrogated, those nabbed
confessed that they were planning to commit theft at Kadma market. When they
were further interrogated, leading them to divulge that they had committed
theft at a vacant residence in ECC flat area in the night of May 2 and at a
house at Bhatia Bustee on May 10 night,” said Kumar.
The City SP said the thieves revealed that their gang leader is Ganesh Prasad
and divulged that they would target the vacant house for committing the
thefts. He said Ganesh has also been arrested.
“As per the investigation, there were two more criminals who would find
out the vacant houses for committed the theft. Three others, including
the woman Manju Devi would keep the stolen goods. The arrested persons
also revealed that the gold and silver jewelries were being bought by a
jeweler, Shankar Prasad.
The police had produced all the accused except the woman before a media during
a press conference before producing them before a judicial magistrate for
sending them to Ghaghidih Central Jail in the evening.
