Jamshedpur Police bust gang involved in serial loots of bank collection agents

6 nabbed including kingpin nabbed, several still absconding

Jamshedpur, May 14: Police busted an inter-state gang that looted the collection agents of the banks.

A total of six accused including the leader of the gang have been arrested in this case. Among the arrested accused, the mastermind Mohammed Bablu alias Gulzar, resident of Howrah Julapada, West Bengal, Firoz alias Kana, resident of Mango Azad Basti, Kaleem Khan alias Sonu, resident of Kapali TOP Chowk, Abdul Qayoom, resident of Majhgaon, West Bengal, Vikas Singh alias Sonu, resident of Sonari Kagalnagar and Ajay Kumar Sharma, resident of Jugsalai Gaushala Nala Road.

The police have recovered the car and five mobiles used in the incident at the instance of the accused. This gang used to target the collection agents of the banks and carry out the robbery incidents and distribute the loot amongst themselves.

DSP Musabani Chandrashekhar Azad told that this gang used to target the collection agent of Bandhan Bank. Since Bandhan banks are soft targets for them, the gang members used to target them. On Saturday, four criminals looted Rs 51,000 from two collection agents of Bandhan Bank by showing fear of pistol in Damdi under Dumaria police station.

After the complaint, the rural SP formed a team under his leadership and raided it. During the raid, the gang leader Gulzar alias Bablu and Mohd. Firoz alias Kana along with others were arrested. Kingpin Gulzar and Firoz used to make plans while Ajay Sharma and Vikas Singh used to do recee. The gang confessed that they had looted Rs 78,000 from the collection agent of Bandhan Bank at Phulpal in Ghatshila on March 24. Earlier on April 10, 53 thousand was looted from the collection agent of Bandhan Bank in Chaibasa Sadar police station area. On the other hand, on March 10, in Rajnagar of Seraikela-Kharsawan district, the incident of robbery of 68 thousand was carried out from the collection agent of Bandhan Bank.

DSP said that Gulzar alias Bablu has been active in various districts of West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand for the last 25 years. Gulzar is also in touch with other gangs. Weapons are brought from Bihar to execute the incident. On May 23, 2021, Gulzar, along with his gang members, also looted 20 lakhs from a jewelery businessman wearing police uniform in Bagodar, Giridih.

 Apart from this, he had also thrown a bomb at the witness of his case while he was in jail. According to the information received so far, a total of 11 cases have been registered against Firoz, while a total of 8 cases have been registered against Bablu, apart from this, 5 cases have been registered against Kalim alias Laden and three cases each against Qayum, Vikas Singh and Ajay. Other criminals are absconding in this case, for whose arrest raids are going on.
