Jamshedpur Police apprehend chain-snatching accused, seize stolen motorcycle

Jamshedpur, July 11: A chain-snatching incident occurred on Tuesday when a miscreant on a stolen Hero Honda motorcycle targeted 72-year-old Bindu Devi in Banmali Garden, Baliguma. Acting swiftly, local residents managed to apprehend the culprit, identified as Raja Banerjee from Sankosai Road No. 5, Ulidih.

Upon the arrival of MGM police station officials, Banerjee was taken into custody. Following investigation, it was revealed that the motorcycle used in the crime was also stolen. Banerjee, a repeat offender with prior criminal records, was presented before the court on Thursday and subsequently sent to judicial custody.

The incident unfolded as Bindu Devi, accompanied by her daughter-in-law Ruby Singh and neighbour Kanchan Kumari, was walking near her residence at 6:30 pm when Banerjee snatched her gold chain. Despite the sudden attack, the women chased and managed to apprehend Banerjee, aided by local residents who responded to the commotion.
