Jamshedpur PM Awas Beneficiaries Felicitate Saryu Roy Ahead of June 19 Flat Handover

Jamshedpur: Beneficiaries of the Birsanagar Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) on Monday felicitated Jamshedpur West MLA, Saryu Roy. They welcomed him with bouquets and shawls and distributed sweets. The felicitation ceremony followed an announcement by Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu on Sunday, stating that the keys to the flats would be handed over to the beneficiaries on June 15.

People began gathering at Roy’s Bistupur residence at 2:30 PM. Attendees highlighted how Roy had supported them throughout their struggle and expressed deep gratitude. Speaking on the occasion, Saryu Roy remarked that it was a day of special joy for him as well. “You will receive the keys to your flats on June 19. I salute the struggle you have endured; you have shown immense patience,” Roy said.

Infrastructure Checks and the Long Journey

Roy cautioned the beneficiaries that they might encounter some initial hiccups when they move in:

• Pending Infrastructure: Since no one currently resides in the complex, some infrastructure work remains incomplete. Roy noted it would be better if these works were completed after the move-in, allowing residents to monitor the quality of execution themselves.
• Project Delays: The project originally commenced in 2019, meaning beneficiaries have waited until 2026 to receive their keys. Roy remarked that while the delay was significant, it was a case of “better late than never.”

The MLA also said that he personally inspected the flats three days ago. While he found the overall construction satisfactory, he noticed cracks in a few spots internally, which he suspected might be due to the use of black bricks. He confirmed that the government has officially issued orders to hand over the flats and that work is progressing rapidly. Roy extended his thanks to Urban Development Minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu for his cooperation in accelerating the process.
