Jamshedpur, August 22: The Non-Gazetted Employees Federation has accused the Executive Engineer of PHED’s Adityapur Division, Sumit Kumar, of ignoring a High Court order of disbursement of eight months’ pending salaries to seven employees within three weeks. But six weeks have passed since and the salaries remained unpaid. One of these employees, Manoj Kumar lost his wife on August 20. She died due to lack of treatment which Manoj could not afford because of paucity of financial resources.
The Federation’s President, Vimal Singh, expressed growing anger among the members over this negligence of Sumit Kumar and stated that they were preparing to file a contempt petition in court. Additionally, the Federation was planning to initiate a phased movement in response to the situation. The affected employees, who have not been paid since January 2023, had taken the matter to the High Court, which ruled in their favor on June 27. Despite the court’s order, the salaries remain unpaid.
